Before we made gin, we made rum. Or rather, we started making rum — because rum takes time. It needs space, patience, and oak barrels to become what it’s meant to be. But back at the very beginning, long before we had a distillery, rum was what we reached for. What we drank. What we loved.
We’d spent time in both Scotland and the Caribbean, hopping between whisky and rum tours, wide-eyed at the scale of the stills, tasting everything we could. The fascination started to grow. But it wasn’t just the flavour — it was the culture around it. And with rum especially, we noticed something: so much of it seemed to be marketed towards men. Bottles with pirates, scrolls, guns. Loud, sugary spice blends. Or on the other end of the spectrum, ultra-aged exclusivity, locked behind glass cabinets.
We wanted to create something different.
Something more nuanced, more thoughtful, more joyful. Something that tasted like rum always should — rich, rounded, delicious — but made properly, from scratch, and without the posturing.
And we knew we wanted it to be organic. Partly because sustainability matters to us. But also? Because it tasted better. We taste-tested every organic molasses we could get our hands on in those early days, chasing the right depth and richness. And once we found it, we started fermenting and distilling it ourselves — just the way rum is meant to be made.
Always from scratch. Always in-house.
The rum rests in ex-bourbon oak barrels for at least six months, mellowing into something rounded and golden, with notes of oak, vanilla and gentle smoke. No imported bases. No shortcuts. No syrupy overload.
Our spiced rum is delicately infused — warm and aromatic, but never cloying. You don’t need cola to enjoy it. You don’t need a beard or a boat, either.
When we released our first bottles in 2022, everything was labelled and hand-finished by our small team. We’d waited so long to share it — and when it finally landed in people’s hands, the response blew us away. That first batch was met with joy and curiosity. Relief and giddy excitement on our end! We’d made something we were proud of, and people felt it too.
We believe rum is for everyone. It’s for slow evenings, shared glasses, quiet moments with the people you love. It’s for storytelling, laughter, connection.
It’s for the joy of the drink — and the joy around it.
