We recently hosted an evening of shanty singing here at our Distillery in Falmouth, and honestly, it’s still lingering with us! (See a recording of an instagram live we made on the night here)
Femme de la Mer brought the magic back into the space with a set that moved between traditional Cornish sea shanties, original arrangements, and stories of women woven through Cornwall’s history.
The singing was properly spine-tingling. Big, layered harmonies that filled the room and seemed to settle into the walls. Chairs pulled close to the fire. Candles flickering along the tables. Drinks in hand. Plates of pintxos being passed around.
It’s funny, because when we first walked around this building, we knew we wanted a taproom. We knew we wanted an event space. But if we’re honest, we didn’t quite dare to imagine evenings like this.
A full room. Music like that. People truly present with each other. Analog joy to the max- Exactly what we hoped this space could become!
If you joined us, thank you. You made it what it was.
And if you missed it, don’t worry. We’ll be doing it again!
